Addressing the media, the CEO of the Games and Principal Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Assam, Avinash Joshi said that this is going to be the biggest sports event the country has ever witnessed.

The continuing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) throughout the country covering people of all religions, have now assumed a global dimension with the participation of large number of academics, students as also other public intellectuals in the programmes condemning the passing of such a discriminatory Bill by the Indian Parliament. India represented the home of secularism and religious tolerance by the global community and now all on a sudden they are finding that communalism and bigotry are being practised by the ruling BJP regime and the great Indian nation is being turned into Hindurashtra as per the programme of the New India by 2022.
