ADIVASI COMMUNITIES ARE WORST HIT BY LOCK-DOWN

CENTRE'S PRO-CORPORATE AGENDA BRINGS MORE WOES

As the greatest man made humanitarian crisis since independence plays out across India, prevailing inequalities get intensified due to government policies and approaches during the arbitrarily declared, unplanned lockdown. The curtain of invisibility that hitherto concealed the existence of 10 crore workers, termed migrant workers, has been torn asunder through myriad images of horrendous suffering. This huge section of India’s labour force or rather India’s life force are being stripped of their rights as equal citizens of India. They are, along with all sections of the working class and working people whose basic rights are under attack, are hostage in the war that the Modi government is waging to get out of the huge crisis that the capitalist economy faces.

WHY PM MODI’S ‘ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT ABHIYAN’ IS QUITE DECEPTIVE

CANNOT OVERCOME LOCKDOWN CRISIS WITH UNIMPLEMENTABLE MEASURES
Author: Gyan Pathak - Published 23-05-2020 08:38 GMT-0000
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan has a clear message for a self-reliant India. “What an idea!” exclaimed all, in their initial ecstatic reaction, which later gave way to a great disgust, fear, and frustration. The announcement of PM Modi’s economic stimulus package of Rs 20 lakh crore under this umbrella movement announced on May 12 turned out to be Rs 20.97 lakh crore made known to the public in five tranches by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, ultimately proved to be a great deception. Economic analysts are unanimous on this point that the real fiscal cost of this seemingly big package is less than Rs 2 lakh crore, i.e., only one per cent of the GDP as against 10 per cent originally claimed.

Naxal, renamed Left Wing Extremist (LWE), violence is on the wane. As claimed by the NDA Union Government in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), steadfast implementation of National Policy and Action Plan for development of LWE affected areas and their containment has resulted in consistent decline in LWE violence. Overall decline is 38 per cent during the last five years since 2015. This is despite the fact that the Union Government is trying its best to deprive and dispossess the tribal of their inherent right to forest, land and water for mineral exploration, infrastructural development and industrialization by private corporates.
